Love Came Near

“This is how God showed his love among us, He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” – 1 John 4:9–10

Love moved first. God did not wait for humanity to climb a ladder to Heaven. He stepped into our world in Jesus so that we might truly live. Advent announces a God who crosses every distance, enters every story, and brings life where fear and failure once had the last word. In the manger we see humility, at the cross we see sacrifice, and in the empty tomb we see victory. This is love: not a sentiment, but a Savior.

Imagine a door opening on a winter night and warm light spilling into the street. That is the Gospel. The Father opened the door of Heaven and welcomed us home in Christ. The Holy Spirit makes this Love near and personal. He makes the difference by pouring the love of God into our hearts until shame loosens, fear loses its language, and hope begins to breathe again. Love is not an idea to admire, it is God Himself drawing close, healing memories, and writing a new chapter.

The Good News is: God’s Love is not fragile. It does not fade with seasons or depend on our perfection. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Love faced our worst and gave us His best. Love came into our darkness and turned on the light. Love met our debt and paid it in full. Love speaks a better word over our homes, our cities, and our future — a word that cannot be cancelled because Jesus is alive.

“This is how God showed his love among us, He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” –  1 John 4:9–10

In Kolkata, India, Mother Teresa, who is one of my heroes, walked narrow streets with a wide heart. She called the poor her friends, not because human strength was enough, but because the love of Jesus compelled her to move toward the one in front of her. Hospitals, hospices, and houses of welcome became signs that when Love comes near, dignity is restored and despair yields. The same Jesus who moved her still moves us today in Geneva apartments, Paris neighborhoods, Lisbon alleys, and Alpine villages. Where His Love is received, cold rooms warm and discouraged hearts rise.

Friend, lift your eyes and see how God has loved you. Not with a distant blessing, but with a personal rescue. Dear Friend, the cross is proof and the empty tomb is a promise. The Father wanted you, and He sent His Son to bring you home. The Holy Spirit whispers this truth in a way that no argument can undo. He reminds you that you are not random; you are loved, chosen, and called. He turns condemnation into confidence, loneliness into belonging, and scarcity into the joy of a Father’s abundance.

When Love comes near, families notice. Words soften, patience returns, and old stories of pain begin to change direction. When Love comes near, churches shine. Worship carries fresh gratitude, unity becomes stronger than opinion, and generosity looks for places to overflow. When Love comes near, our inner world is no longer ruled by past failures. We stand in grace and walk in newness of life; this is not wishful thinking. This is the power of Jesus at work by the Holy Spirit.

Loved by God, I refuse small living because His Love brings me home, heals my heart, and sends me to shine.

Love also gives courage. It empowers forgiveness because we have been forgiven. It inspires faith because Love never fails. It renews imagination because Love believes that all things are possible with God. Even in hard places and complex situations, Love finds a path forward. The Son of God did not come to condemn the world, but to save it. He did not come to count our scars, but to heal them. He did not come to measure our strength, but to share His own.

Receive this Advent as a personal embrace from Heaven. Let God’s Love quiet anxious thoughts and brighten your countenance. Let His kindness become the headline over your week. There is a place in the Father’s heart that carries your name, and there is a grace in Jesus that fits your need exactly. The Holy Spirit stands ready to make this Love more real than the accusation of the enemy, more durable than disappointment, more brilliant than any shadow. This is Love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us.

Prayer: Father, thank You for sending Jesus to me. Jesus, thank You for loving me to the end and for giving me life through Your cross and resurrection. Holy Spirit, pour the love of God into my heart until fear is silenced and faith rises strong. Let Your Glory be seen in my thoughts, my words, and my relationships, and make my life a living testimony of Your Love. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
