The Word that sustains

“The Sovereign LORD has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.” – Isaiah 50:4

There is power in the words we speak. Words can build up or tear down, encourage or discourage, bring life or spread doubt. But when God speaks, His words are filled with wisdom, strength, and comfort. And the amazing thing is, He desires to share His words with you!

God doesn’t only speak to pastors, prophets, or special individuals. His promise is for all His children. Morning by morning, He longs to awaken your heart, to open your understanding, and to give you words that bring life. His voice is not distant; it is near. But to hear it, we must take time in His presence.

“The Sovereign LORD has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will.” Isaiah 50:4

For many years now, in fact, since I was 16 years old, I have started almost every morning by reading the Bible — the Word of God. To be completely honest, it’s not just almost every day; it’s actually every day, with very few exceptions. This simple habit has been a key in my life and such a blessing. Of course, it’s good to read the Bible in the evening or during the day, but I have found that starting early in the morning by allowing God to speak to me makes all the difference. He gives me strength, energy, revelation, and direction for the day ahead. There have been so many times when the very verse I read in the morning became the exact encouragement I needed later in the day or even a word that blessed someone else!

Many times, people around us are struggling in silence. A co-worker may be battling depression. A neighbor might feel completely alone. A family member could be losing hope. God wants to use you to be His voice of encouragement! When you spend time with Him, He fills you with wisdom not just for yourself, but so that you can bring comfort to the weary.

“God’s words bring life. When you take time to listen, He fills you with wisdom—not just for yourself, but to bring hope to those around you.“

Think about Jesus. Every morning, He withdrew to pray and seek the Father. And every day, He carried words of life that transformed those around Him. The woman at the well came looking for water but left with a new purpose. The man at the pool of Bethesda had waited for healing for 38 years, and with just a few words, his life was completely changed. The disciples, though ordinary men, were empowered by the words Jesus spoke into them and they turned the world upside down!

This same God is speaking to you. Maybe today, you are the one in need of encouragement. Maybe you feel weary, wondering if God hears your prayers. His promise is clear: He will awaken you morning by morning, open your understanding, and fill you with His words of life. His voice will guide you, strengthen you, and remind you that you are never alone.

When God speaks, everything changes. When He gives you a word, it will bring hope, healing, and direction. Take time to listen and then be willing to share what He gives you. Someone needs the encouragement that God has placed inside you!

Prayer: Father, thank You for speaking to me. I open my heart to hear Your voice and receive Your wisdom. Morning by morning, awaken my spirit, guide my steps, and fill me with words that bring life. Use me to be a vessel of encouragement to those who are weary, and let my words reflect Your love and truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
