“So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God.” Haggai 1:14
There are moments when we feel weak, tired, or even discouraged in the work of God. The people of Israel were like that when the Lord spoke through the prophet Haggai. But the Good News is this: God Himself stirred up their spirit! It was not human motivation or emotion; it was the breath of the Holy Spirit igniting fresh passion within them.
The word enthusiasm comes from the Greek enthousiasmos, from en (in) and theos (God). Literally, it means “inspired by God” or “filled with God.” True enthusiasm is not hype, nor human energy, but being filled with the Spirit of the Living God. When the Spirit stirs your heart, it awakens joy, passion, courage, and perseverance.

Maybe you feel like you have no more strength to continue. But the same Spirit who stirred Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the people is at work today. He is stirring your heart, igniting fresh fire, and giving you divine enthusiasm to build His house, to serve your family, and to carry His Kingdom wherever you go.
Throughout Scripture we see this stirring of the Spirit. David, when everyone else was afraid of Goliath, was stirred with courage to run toward the giant in the Name of the Lord. Nehemiah, when he heard of the broken walls of Jerusalem, could not stay indifferent. The Spirit of God stirred him to rise, to rebuild, and to lead the people with determination. On the day of Pentecost, the disciples who had been hiding in fear were suddenly filled with the Holy Spirit, and divine enthusiasm turned them into bold witnesses who shook the nations.
“True enthusiasm is not human excitement, but the fire of God burning in our hearts, stirring us to accomplish His will with joy and power.“
I remember being in Italy during a healing conference where many had grown weary in their faith. But as we prayed, the Spirit of God came upon the people. Suddenly, they were singing, dancing, and praying with a contagious passion. Healings broke out spontaneously. What changed? The Holy Spirit stirred their hearts with divine enthusiasm!
Today, God wants to do the same for you. Open your heart to Him. Ask Him to breathe on you afresh. He will fill you with a joy and strength that is not your own. His Spirit will stir you to rise again, to speak again, to love again, to build again, and to believe again.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You for stirring my heart today. Fill me with divine enthusiasm, with Your fire, Your joy, and Your strength. Let me rise with courage to do the work You have called me to, and let my life be a testimony of Your Glory. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
