“Concerning brotherly love, there is no need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God, with the result that you love one another.”—1 Thessalonicians 4:9
Am I the only one who has asked himself “How can I love my neighbor?” Not “how” in the sense of a method, but “how” in the sense of being faced with the fact that there’s nothing in me that wants to love the person close to me. It’s impossible to love them as Jesus asked us to do, in our own strength. I can try to stir up and stimulate benevolence, but this love will only have an impact on the level of the flesh and not on eternity.

The good news and the solution are in today’s text. Paul declares that it is God Himself, in Person and directly, who helps us to love our brothers and sisters. Hallelujah! All I need is Him.

When I’m in love with Jesus, then Jesus gives me His love for others and I can love them as I should. Thank you Lord for this extraordinary wisdom. All we need to do is find Christ, let ourselves be loved by Him, love Him in return and love those around us. May you be richly blessed!
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your divine love, which surpasses all knowledge. I ask You to fill me with this love, so that I can fulfill the first and second commandments as You ask of me. In the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen.
