You already have faith

“And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.” – Luke 17 : 5-6

The subject of faith has sometimes become some kind of complicated for us being Christians. Confused by this subject which seems to be such great and nebulous, we have forgotten the simplicity of faith. As a believer, having faith is totally natural, it is written in our DNA as those who are born again! Furthermore, when you are saved by Jesus, you have placed your faith in him, you have simply used this faith in the work on the cross. What did you do? You have believed in the death, the tomb and the resurrection of Jesus. You did not imagine anything; you have simply accepted the invitation of Christ to pardon your sins and you have placed your faith in him.

Faith is not a result of any effort; it is the result of an abandonment. Abandon yourself to God and believe in what he says. Jesus cannot lie, this would be a perversion and violation of his nature. Thus, logically, if he cannot lie, everything, and absolutely everything he says is true and will be accomplished.

The word of God tells us that we have all received a measure of faith, given by our good heavenly father (ref. Romains 12 :3). That’s good news, isn’t it? And if instead of coveting the great faith of our spiritual heroes such as St. Paul, Smith Wigglesworth, Reinhard Bonnke, etc., we would use that faith that God has already given to us? By comparing our lack of faith to the one of others, we discredit what God has accomplished in us. That’s the reason why we remain paralyzed without doing anything of our faith. Remaining faithful in little things, that’s the key to our growth.

“And if instead of coveting the great faith of our spiritual heroes, we would use that faith that God has already given to us?”

I believe that the disciples of Jesus have encountered the same manner of thinking when they asked their master to increase their faith. Their reasoning missed any precision. Then, Jesus brought up a big metamorphosis respecting our faith. It is no longer a question of the size of faith, but it is up to in whom our faith is placed.

Jesus tells you: trust in me. You already have the necessary faith. Place your faith in me. I am worthy of obedience. I won’t lie. I make the difference, not you. My heart is good, and I love you like a father does. Now, stop looking to other things, with the exception of me. I am the source and the one who answers your prayers.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, because having faith in you is so easy. You are perfect and worthy of my trust. I do not have to persist any more, I only need more of you. In your name, Amen.
