The birth of a King

“Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.” – Isaiah 7 : 14

Today, I would like to suggest to go down to Bethlehem, and together with the amazed shepherds and to mages in adoration, to contemplate the one who is the king of the Jews and to sing: “A child is born and a son has been given to us”. Jesus is the incarnation of Yahweh, our Lord and our God, but also our brother and friend.

Have you ever mediated about his miraculous conception? This was something never seen before, unequal ever since, that a virgin could conceive and give birth to a son. The first promise was the following: “The descendants of the woman” (Genesis 3 :15), and not the seed of the man. As Eve had opened the door to sin which caused the loss of paradise, it is now the unsignificant and only Mary who should start the recovery of paradise.

“Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.”
Isaiah 7 : 14

We should never forget the humility of this son´s parents. His mother was simply described as “a virgin”, not as a princess, nor a prophet, nor a magnificent goddess. One thing is certain, there was royal blood flowing through her veins; her spirit was not really weak and untitled, because she could sing with so much smoothness a song of adoration; but her position was so humble, and the man, her fiancee was so poor accommodation offered to the newborn king was so miserable!

“Is there any king who would leave his throne of victory to die for his children?”

Emmanuel, God with us in our nature, in our pain, in our life, in our punishment, in our grave, and now with us, or better said we with him, in the resurrection, the ascent, the victory and magnificence of the second advent. Hallelujah! Is there any king who would leave his throne of victory to die for his children?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for coming into the world. Thank you for giving up everything to give me everything. Christ, You are the all I speak of. I adore you. Amen.

Advent prayer (by Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke): May my mortal lips preach the eternal Gospel, and may my mortal hands build Your eternal kingdom – to the glory of the Father, Amen.
