“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” – 1. Thessalonians 4:14 Do not imagine that a born-again soul, once the last breath done, will sleep in insensitivity. The Christ murmurs to every dying saint: “Today, you will be with me in paradise”. They sleep in Jesus, but their soul is in front of the throne of. God, praising him night and day in his temple, singing hallelujahs to the one who has washed them from their sins by his blood. The body himself sleeps in a solitary underground bed, covered by some grass. What does sleeping mean? The initial idea of sleeping is “rest”, and that´s the thought, the Holy Spirit of God wants to pass on. Sleep makes every night being a shabbat for the day. Sleep closes hermetically the door to the soul and asks all intruders to wait for some time, so that the internal life could enter in its summer garden. The tired believer falls quietly asleep like a tired child is sleeping in the bosom of his mother.

Blessed are those, who die in the Lord; they rest from their jobs, and their works follow them. Their quiet rest will never be interrupted up to when God wakes them up in order to give them their entire reward. Under the guard of the angels, under the veil of the eternal mysteries, they sleep as inheritors of the glory, up to when the fullness of time, brings the fullness of redemption. What an awakening for them! They have been laid down in their last remains, tired and worn, but they will not rise up in this condition. They have gone for a rest, with frowned eyebrows and atrophied lines, but they will arise in the wonders of Jesus´ glory. The shriveled seed without any shape or beauty, will rise up from the dust and be transformed to a glorious flower. The wintertime of the tomb will free the way for the spring of redemption and the summer of glory. Blessed will be death who, by the divine glory, will take off the working clothes in order to dress us with the wedding clothes of incorruptibility – the wedding of the lamb! Blessed will be those who sleep in Jesus. |
“Blessed are those who sleep in Jesus.” |
Today, I can only encourage you to thank God for the salvation of your soul. Sing to him for his goodness. Express to him your thankfulness because he has guided you from the darkness of hell and sin to the kingdom of love and light of his beloved son. And in case that you don´t have the assurance of this eternal life, of this salvation, and in case you should die today, you aren´t even sure of being received in heaven or the abyss of hell; I have some good news for you. You can from now on get this assurance that your life is in Christ and that, when you close your eyes in order to leave this world to pass over to the eternal world, you will wake up in paradise with Jesus at your side. All you have to do is to call the name of Jesus and to ask him to save your life. Turn away from your sins, change your way of life, and turn to the one who loves you forever. When you do this, the bible promises that you will be really saved! Amen. Be fully blessed. |
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that you have redeemed me. I am yours, and when it comes to my last breath, I will be sleeping in you. I love you, Jesus. Amen.
