Praying God, with God and for God!

“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers. That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.” – Ephesians 1:16-17

This prayer from Paul for the Ephesian church is fascinating. What he asks from the Father is giving a spirit of wisdom and revelation (this is nothing else than the Holy Spirit himself, refer to Isiah 11 :2) to the Ephesians to allow them to know God. Do you see this trinitary loop? This prayer could be translated as follows: “Father, give your Holy Spirit to them to allow them to know Jesus” or “Lord, fill them up with the Spirit of the Lord to enable them to know the Lord”.

Our relationship with God is deep and simple at the same time – and this should remain unchanged like that. The secret of Christian life is the presence of Jesus. The excellence of his knowledge and the simplicity of our devotion are the basic ingredients which constitute the real woman or man in God.

What about taking some time for the Lord, to ask him to receive more from him to know him even better? Pray to God, with God and with the only aim to obtain more from God.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus, for the simplicity of the Christian march. Help me to return to you and to the power of being poor in mind. I want to have more from you. In your marvelous name, Amen.
