He has chosen the cross

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” – Philippians 2 :5-8

The father has not forced Jesus to die for the world. God did not manipulate Christ to hide the atrocity and suffering he should endure on the cross. Contrary to that, the Lord knew exactly what he should face. “But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant… “.

This resolution of God´s son amazes me and makes me cry. Jesus could have destroyed death, sin and the grave with his almighty power. He could have called myriads and myriads of angle solders to conquer the devil and his minions. But our King is no a super hero. He is neither a tyrant nor a dictator. Our king is a lamb. He comes to die for us to redeem us for God.  

“Our King is no a super hero. Our king is a lamb.” 

A.W Tozer said: “In reality, salvation has been paid not by the fist of Jesus, but by his hands pierced by the nails; not by muscles but by love, not by vengeance, but by forgiveness, not by strength, but by sacrifice. Jesus Christ, our Lord, surrendered in order to win; he has destroyed his enemies by dying on the cross and has conquered death by allowing death to conquer him”.

Isn´t that wonderful?
