Happiness is a choice

“This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalms 118:24

I remember as a child this verse being part of one of the popular and dynamic songs that we used to sing in some meetings, especially during the meetings of the Full Gospel Businessmen. It brought joy to our midst. And I believe that by remembering that it is the Lord who made this day then we can determine the atmosphere and the direction that this day will take. If we wake up starting out negative and apprehensive about this new day, certainly we will have a hard time finding happiness.

But when we decide and apply this principle of recognizing that the day ahead is made by the LORD and we rejoice in Him, then we allow the positive energy to fill us with that happiness. This is a simple yet profound truth. Happiness is a choice. We don’t have to wait for everything to be perfect in our environment, our family, or our business. You don’t have to give up happiness until you lose weight, have more money, break an unhealthy habit, or accomplish all your goals. Happiness is a choice and it’s yours. You can choose to be unhappy, or you can choose to be happy and enjoy your life no matter what!

“This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalms 118:24

When you make that daily decision to rejoice in God who created your day which means you decide to be happy, not only will you feel better, but your faith will allow God to manifest Himself on your behalf and do wonders.

To do this, you must learn to live today, one day at a time. Make the most of every moment because there is a piece of happiness in everything. Make the most of every moment because even if there are difficult moments, there is still something positive in them. I encourage everyone to set goals and make plans, but if you are always living in the future and not enjoying the present moment, you will miss out on some amazing moments and end up bitter about life because you have not taken advantage of these times that God has created for you.

“As you rejoice in the Lord for the day He has made, you will find happiness during this day despite some challenges you are facing.”

Jean-Luc Trachsel

So today, whatever the symptoms in your body, whatever the shortcomings and challenges, look to your God and thank Him for this extraordinary day that He has created. And rejoice in Him as you praise Him and begin to learn to see pieces of happiness in all times and places that will make your life happy.

Prayer: This is the day that the Lord has made, let it be to me a cause of joy and gladness. So I decide to rejoice and open myself to the happiness that God has reserved for me today, even if it is short-lived, I will see it and make the most of it to give glory to God.
