“And he said, go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” – 1 Kings 19 : 11-12

Can you hear it? Jesus is whispering gently at your ears: “I love you. I keep your life in my shepherd’s hands. I am with you. Do not fear. Everything will be fine if you continue to follow me. That’s what I promise you.”

I am the first who loves the majesty and magnitude of God – when he acts in a supernatural and extraordinary manner, with signs and miracles which show his prodigy. I like reading in the word of God all the situations where his voice could be heard, like the noise of great streams, like thunders which scare the enemy and even his friends.

“And he said, go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
1 Kings 19 : 11-12

I like it when he speaks with authority showing the whole universe that he is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. The voice of God is powerful, his voice is majestic (Psalm 29:6), his voice shudders the small gremlins of the dykes and makes the archangels of glory tremble in the heavens of heavens.

However, the voice of the Lord is also manifest – and often – by a small whisper. But, be careful! This tact is not simple. It is deep. It shows the proximity of our Lord. It shows the nearness that he wants to have with us.

“The sound of Jesus’ voice carries vibrations of healing for your soul.”

In order to be conscious of the subtlety of the Spirit’s voice, we must hush up all noises around us. The stress of our job, the burden of all tasks to fulfill, the fear of missing something, the expansion of bad news filling this world, the bad diagnostic received by your doctor, all these voices cease in order to be able to listen to God’s whispers.

Hold on now. Take a deep breath and meditate about Jesus. Listen to his soft and tender voice. The sound is melodious and carries vibrations of healing for your soul. Open your Bible and find out the good promises of God for your life. Pray them, learn them by heart, keep them close to your heart, as they include the whispers of a father who loves you.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to hear your soft voice. Help me to hush up the noise around me. I love you, Lord. You are so good to me. In the marvelous name of Jesus. Amen.
