“Lean on the Lord with all your heart and mind, and do not trust in your own understanding. In all your ways know him, acknowledge him and recognize him, and he will direct and make straight your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5, 6 Some people proceed cautiously through life, living securely and avoiding taking risks. Others, more attracted to risk, can astonish people by boldly moving forward and achieving radical results. How people live their lives is a good indication of how they think and what they believe. When we believe that God loves us and wants us to succeed, the step of faith that is necessary can scare us. It’s true that a life worth living involves taking occasional or even regular risks. But taking risks means there’s always the possibility of failure or injury. Most of us feel more comfortable leaning on something or someone for help and support when we take risks.  |

When the future is unknown and we don’t know how to proceed, leaning on God, helps us making the right decision. For people who only trust in their five senses or human abilities, leaning on God for supernatural help may seem strange. But God is always ready to step in and help us when we trust that He wants the best for us in all circumstances. When things go wrong, God is a master at turning failure into victory. He likes when we trust in him, and He wants to be involved in making sure everything goes right. When that happens, let’s never forget to give Him the credit. “This is the work of the Lord; it is a wonder in our sight” Psalm 118:23. Acting on faith is something the world doesn’t understand, but God honors that as it’s His language. Faith is when our mind doesn’t understand every aspect of what we’re doing, but our heart tells us to go ahead regardless. It’s the practical expression of our trust in God. “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see…. By faith we understand that the whole universe was formed at God’s command, that what we see now did not come from something that can be seen…. It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave his home and go to another land that God would give him as an inheritance. He left without knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:1, 3, 8,). |
“Faith is when our mind doesn’t understand every aspect of what we’re doing, but our spirit tells us to go ahead regardless. It’s the practical expression of our trust in God.” Jean-Luc Trachsel |
What the world calls blind faith is in fact obedience to that little voice that comes from the Holy Spirit inside us, telling us what to do. Living by faith requires the courage to do the opposite of what the world does. It means listening to what our conscience tells us of what is right, even if we don’t see anyone else doing it. When we are willing to step out of our comfort zone under God’s guidance, He will walk with us. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). God will never let us down when we trust in him. |
Prayer: God, I fully trust you and want to please you. I know your language is faith. As I want to fulfill my destiny on this earth, I ask you Holy Spirit to show me where I can take a step of faith to go forward. I’m ready to leave the security to enter a place where I’m depending only on you. I want to lean on you Lord with all my heart.Â
