“And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them. If any man desires to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.” – Mark 9:35 Did you know that Saul means “desired, required (for God)” and that Paul means “small?” God, who desires us ardently, wants to make us small. Yes … the values of God´s Kingdom are the opposite of those of the world. It´s by giving, that we receive, it´s by abasing ourselves that we will be elevated and it´s by dying that we will find life.

When the disciples had asked who would be the greatest amongst themselves, Jesus did not reprimand their desire of greatness. He has just redefined what significates real greatness. I think that we all can confirm that the apostle Paul was a hero of faith who had marked history, who had an influence on the whole world and who had made incredible feats. But never forget that behind that man of God was God’s call: be small. |
“The Lord will use you powerfully when you understand that the supreme aim of this life is to serve.” |
My friend, the Lord will use you powerfully when you understand that the supreme aim of this life is to serve. |
Prayer: Father, thank you for your great love for me. Thank you that you have saved, delivered and restored me so that I could serve. Help me to see how you see. Use me. Give me the humility of your son, so that I will be a witness for the world. I the name of Jesus. Amen.
