The perfection of Jesus

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.” – Philippians 2 :5-7

Charles Spurgeon, this great English preacher of the XIX. century, has well written about the nativity of Christ: “Jesus was at the same time infinite and a child. He was the Eternal God, but born from a woman´s womb. He was all-mighty, but should stay on the bosom of his mother. He carries the whole universe but needed to be carried in the arms of his mother. He is the king of the angels, but also a simple son of Joseph. He is the heir of all things, and at the same time a despised sun of a carpenter”.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.” Philippians 2 :5-7

That’s Jesus. He is God of the ages: lifted high and exalted, and at the same time the humblest man who ever walked on earth. My friends, the Lord is wonderful. It is impossible to exaggerate his magnificence!

Jesus is both the high and exalted God of the ages, and at the same time the most humble Man who ever walked the earth.

On this second Sunday of Advent, let’s ask the Holy Spirit with faith and sincerity, to reveal the beauty of this soft and powerful Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, I want to thank you for your majesty. Thank you for your sovereignty. Thank you for your all-might. And thank you for your incredible humility. Thank you for your humanity. Thank you, wonderful Savior. I love you. Amen.
