“Before honour is humility” – Proverbs 15 :33 Rivers always flow downwards. In that way, the natural teaches the spiritual, the Holy Spirit is attracted by humility of the heart. The river of the Holy Spirit is foreseen for the little children, who spring into the water heads down, without any pretention. From his highest heaven, God does not look for majestic or imperial horses on earth. He is looking for donkeys … humble and loyal. Although this invitation does not seem to be appetizing for the heart hungry for glory, and not impressive at all in the eyes of the proud, it is all about the royal way. Think about that: the King of glory, Jesus Christ, son of the Almighty, Lord of lords, Prince of peace, Saviour of the world, has decided to sit on a little foal, very simple, which carried him to Jerusalem, the holy city of God (John 12 :14). If God can use a poor donkey, he can use you also without any doubt!  |

The church is in need of a revival soaked by the humility of Christ. Be careful, not a false humility which is nothing else than a masked pride. Humility is not thinking less of yourself. It is thinking less about yourself. Furthermore, appearing humble does not mean being humble. The most tender and humble people I have met are often those who, from their appearances, seem to be puffed up with pride, success or money. However, their heart is humble, they fear God and give him glory. Carrying one’s cross is one of the best ways to prove one’s humility. The cross is rough and abrasive, it removes the callosity (thickening, hardening, rigidity) of the proud man. It makes it humble, softer, and tender.  |

Jesus, as always, is the best example. The King of Heaven came down and accepted to be born as a baby in a simple manger. Even more humble, he becomes, by the Holy Spirit, an embryo in the womb of about 14 years old young Jewish girl … wow. « Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men» (Phil. 2 :5-8). The way of humility is for sure, the way where the glory of God is manifest. |
Prayer: Holy Spirit, you are almighty and extremely good, help me stay humble and small. I give you all the glory. Fill me up with yourself. Show me Jesus glorified. Amen.
