“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” – 1. John 4:4

We are all confronted to situations which could slow down our march with Jesus. What we confront is bigger and sometimes stronger, and it is easy to be intimidated and to live in fear, thinking that we could never go ahead. But the scripture says: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1. John 4:4). All things that are dressed against you have already be defeated. God is not in heaven battling against the enemy, trying to release you, to heal you, to deliver or to favorize you. The battle has already been won at the cross of Golgotha.

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
1. John 4:4

On a Friday, about 2000 years ago, Jesus, the son of God, has been crucified for our sins and he did on our behalf. They had put him into a grave, and everything seemed to be over. The whole hell was celebrating and the demons were more than happy. But the third day, the Sunday of the resurrection, Jesus, our elder brother, has risen and got out of the grave, and he tells us: “Do not fear any more, I have the keys of death and hell. I have triumphed on death and the enemy. I have cleaned up the way.  I preceded you and I have eliminated all things which could harm or retain you”.  He has made it once for all.

We don’t have to live in fear of what we have done in the past, nor in fear of the future, nor in worry of those things we are confronted with today. The prince of this world can stand up against us like a roaring lion, but the author of the epistle of Hebrew says that Jesus has made the enemy powerless. (Hebrew 2:14). Another translation says: “Jesus has reduced the enemy to nothing or has destroyed him”, which means a total victory over the devil. He has no more power against us. The enemy has been dethroned, disfigured and reduced to nothing.

“Do not pray for victory, pray staring from victory.”

That’s the beautiful thing; as you belong to God, as you are his child, you have already defeated the enemy. You should consider that all things you are confronted with in your life, are already defeated. Do not pray for victory, pray staring from victory. “Thank you, father, that I am set free, healed, forgiven, prosper and victorious”. But the challenge is, even if the enemy is defeated, he makes a lot of noise.” Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1. Peter 5:8). He is LIKE a lion, but in reality, he is not a lion. Only one is the lion, that is the Lion of Juda. The enemy roars only negative thoughts, as for instance: “This illness will be your end. You have made too many mistakes. There is nothing good in your future”. Give yourself a favor: Ignore the roaring. Do not believe his lies. As soon as those thoughts arise, show him the sign of a zero. Remind him: “You have no power over me. You have already been defeated. As I belong to God, I will walk in victory. I will walk in perfect health. I will prosper and succeed. I will be in peace in midst of the storm.”

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for your absolute and total victory on the cross. Help me to enter and to walk on this path of conquest. I lean on your promises and your goodness. I love you Jesus. In your precious name. Amen.
