“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” – 2 Corinthians 3 :17

How I love this verse! First of all, it is interesting to emphasize that the Word declares that the Holy Spirit is Lord. In an unconscious way, we sometimes think that only Jesus Christ or the Father is Lord, however, the apostle Paul says that the Holy Spirit is also Lord. The second item, this passage amazes me because it seems to be contradictory. Indeed, whom among us would associate the terms “Lord/Master” and “liberty”? God does. In his world, everything is opposite to us, in a diametrical manner; you need to humiliate yourself in order to be lifted up, give in order to receive, die and renounce to yourself in order to find life, etc.

Therefore, in the kingdom of God, liberty is found where the lordship of the Holy Spirit is present – I would even say dominating! Strangely, we profit from a great liberty – real, pure, and glorious – being submitted to God, rather than being chiefs of our own life. There is much more space in the house of God than outside in the world…

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
2 Corinthians 3 :17

In this era, where rebellion is declared as righteousness, God does not change and did not create us like that. Sometimes, I meet lovely people, who share with me their challenges as a result of sin. They seem to be oppressed, ill-at-ease, and know pertinently that living under the hold of an addiction and/or a continuous sin is not the will of God for their lives. In addition to that, the enemy of their soul torments them by giving them disgrace, guilt, and fear.

I would really like to be able to have them understand that they absolutely need to let the Holy Spirit take control of their life. Only in that way, they will be liberated and able to live a victorious Christian life. The problem is that very often we do not entirely and completely submit ourselves to the action of the Spirit. We are too attached to those sins which seem to be appetizing and good to satisfy our greed. However, a life of sin is like drinking a pot which does not slake our thirst – it is an endless spiral that leads us to death.

“We profit from great liberty, being submitted to God, rather than being chiefs of our own life.”

Dear friends, I don´t write this in order to condemn somebody or to bring shame on those who battle concerning these things … I only want to give you the key of liberty: the person of the Holy Spirit! He is the source of living water; he is the well where pure water can be found which never dries up. His presence in our hearts brings an atmosphere of liberty where the believer can again dream with God. He is our liberator who delivers us completely from the claws of hell. He is the one who applies the blood of Jesus on our consciousness so that we may serve God without condemnation and without guilt. The Spirit is alive! Right now, as you read these lines, he wants to touch you with his power and anointing which destroy yokes.

Give him the control of your body and your thoughts. Welcome him every day and ask him to fill you up and reveal Jesus Christ. Take the definite decision and the resolution from the bottom of your heart and the resolution that you will follow him where ever he shows you to go. His voice will be your guide and his presence the source of your power. Only in him, liberty is found! Be blessed.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, be my leader. Be my Lord. Fill me up with you. I give you all my life, come and direct it. I need you so, dear Holy Spirit. Come with your gentle and holy presence. Amen.
