He shows himself in a different manner

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore, will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” – Lamentations 3 :22-26

We have an extraordinary God. He is not a fixed robot who asks his « minions » to obey in a mechanical manner. No, Jesus is romantic and surprising. The Holy Spirit is unpredictable and desires that we follow the stream of his river. Isn´t he exciting?

Even if Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13 :8), his ways are unpredictable. There is a big difference between the omnipresence of our God and the expression of his presence.   His expression is unpredictable. He shows himself in a different manner, and I believe that he likes it so…

It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.”
Lamentations 3 :22-26

For example, one day he asks me to dance for him in a manner that costs me a lot and which is sacrificial, like king David did when the Holy Spirit came over him. The next day, he requires that I remain in silent adoration to contemplate his face. Then, he asks me to pray in tongues or sing his faithfulness from the bottom of my heart. In our gatherings, he comes sometimes as a roaring lion, strong and powerful, sometimes as a tender and mild lamb. Sometimes, he shows himself as the king of glory and the only thing we can do is to bow down before his majesty. Another day, he shows himself as a humble servant and we exalt him in this form of expression. It is our job to discern the wind of the Holy Spirit who guides us at the point where he wants us to be.

Why does he? First of all, I think, that he wants to show us that following him does not require any program or formula, but an attentive and passionate listening of his voice. He requires intimacy, he wants me to approach him and approach more and more his heart.

“There is a big difference between the omnipresence of our God and the expression of his presence.”

Jesus is our DAILY bread (Matth. 6 :11). He is not the bread of yesterday. He is not the residue of a previous experience.  His presence is our food, his voice and his body also. We need fresh bread every day. His love is a NEW wine (ref. Matth. 9 :17); his mercies are new from day to day (ref. Lam. 3 :22-26).

Don´t you think that the Lord is so great and wonderful in all the aspects of his nature? This is encouraging and leads the believer, who is in need of love for Christ, to explore the deepness of his heart. His invitation is valid for every one of us! Wow.

Prayer: Wonderful Jesus, show me the wide magnitude of your heart. Reveal your beauty to me. Teach me how to follow your Spirit and to do whatever he likes. I love you so. Be blessed. Amen.
