“When thou saidst, seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.” – Psalms 27 :8

Every human being has four essential questions: Who am I? Why was I born? From what have I been created? What constitutes my being? Where will I go after death?

These questions are natural and have led the human being to invent and do everything  whatsoever to try to satisfy this existential need. Moreover, the scribe, in Marc 12,28 wanted an answer to these sorts of questions. That’s why he asked Jesus:  « Which is the first commandment of all? ». And Jesus answered him: «The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: » (Verses 29 to 30)

“When thou saidst, seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.”
Psalms 27:8

I would like to suggest that the most important reason why we are born is none else than being able to worship our creator. Worship is why we are born and why we are born again. Worshipping God constitutes the genesis as well as the regeneration of the believer (1 Peter 1 :23). Furthermore, we will be worshipping the lamb during all eternity; forever and ever we will be singing: « Worthy is the immolated lamb ». Hallelujah!

Remark: When I say « worship » or « adoration », I don´t talk about the musical worship time we have when we gather with other Christians. Even if this is an integral part of this reality, and I love singing to the glory of God with my brothers and sisters, this doesn´t constitute the quintessence of worship as mentioned in the bible. There is more!

“Worship is why we are born and why we are born again.”

Everything of our being has been designed to receive the love of God and to return this love to his son by means of our worship. Our emotions exist to spread in a warm-hearted, authentic and real way our affection to the one who is perfect. The internal beauty of the human soul has one single purpose: give itself to Jesus Christ. Our intellectual, creative and imaginative capacities have been created to glorify the great artist: our heavenly Father. Even our physical body has been especially designed to love God! David has written this very well in Psalm 84,3: « my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. »

We have a vase inside our hearts. This contains oil and perfume of high value. Our most important purpose on this earth is to spill this vase to the feet of Jesus, without leaving one single drop inside the flask and to give and offer what he desires the most: our love.  And he is worthy of this!

Prayer: Jesus, you are wonderful. You are so beautiful, so tender and so powerful. Glorious Holy Spirit, fill me up so that I can then adore Jesus like it should be. Show me how to worship him. I love you, Lord. Amen.
