You will come out as pure as gold

But he knows where I am going.

And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.

For I have stayed on God’s paths;

I have followed his ways and not turned aside.

I have not departed from his commands,

but have treasured his words more than daily food.

Job 23:10-12

Job knew that the Lord was present everywhere as He is present with you. But his mind was in such a confusion, that he could get no fixed view of God’s merciful Presence. God’s Presence is real and He knows where you are going as He is going with you (In Hebrew: derekh immadi means “The way with me”. Job’s views were all gloomy. God seemed to stand at a distance, and frown upon him. Yet Job expressed his assurance that he should be brought forth, tried, and approved, for he had obeyed the precepts of God. He had relished and delighted in the truths and commandments of God.

As you are following God’s ways despite the testing season and you do not turn aside treasuring His words more than daily food, you will pass the test and become better than before. None of us likes the test but Proverbs 17:3 says “Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the LORD tests the heart”. And as you are passing through difficulties and challenges consider it as a “privilege” to have Your Lord taking care of you willing to check your heart. When you are passing through hell, call on the name of the Lord and He will answer you and He will tell you “you are my child” and you will say “The Lord is my God who brought me safe out of the fire to refine me like silver and to purify like gold (Zech 13:9). I want to encourage you to listen one of my favorite songs from Brian Doerksen “Purify my heart” and why couldn´t you sing it as a prayer to your Lord and the Presence of God will invade you giving you hope.

Prayer: God I want to have a pure heart. I’m treasuring Your words more than daily food. I will stay on Your paths and follow Your ways and not turned aside. I will not depart from Your commands even if I don’t understand everything.  But I believe you are with me and through this refining and purifying process I will be a better person to be more like you.
