Jesus has changed the course of history

1 Timothy 3:16
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

You may be wondering what the first day of Christmas was, this question has been causing debate and conflict since the dawn of time. Yet the date is irrelevant. If the date of the Lord’s birthday had any bearing on our relationship with Him, the Gospels would have told us. For many centuries we have attributed Christmas to December 25. For many, this day symbolizes a spirit of festivity, friendship and family rejoicing as well as the highlight of the year. However, what is far more important than the exact date of Christ’s coming is the reality of His coming.

Many different winter holidays have been established to celebrate all sorts of deities and religious mores: the Saturnalia of the Romans, the Pongal of the Hindus or the Carnival in Switzerland and Brazil. However, the name of Jesus overcame all these calendar pollutions. The truth is that the birth of Jesus has erased the importance and value of these feasts, for every day is His! What is the fame of saints, gods and great men worth compared to the glory of Christ?

Think about it, the very date is all about Him. The birth of Christ, the Christmas we celebrate today, is indeed the event that changed the course of history. Why? Because the greatest mystery in the world, the incarnation, is revealed. “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)

Many men have tried in vain during their lives to become God… but there is only the one true God who became a man : Jesus Christ! (Philippians 2:5-7)

Hallelujah! The most beautiful day of the year is an evening; the nativity! As the famous song says: “a Savior is born to us” and His name is Jesus.

The Savior of the world has revealed Himself
What is His name?
The Prince of eternal peace is born
What is His name?

In the cave shines Emmanuel
In the midst of kings and shepherds
Wonderful King of glory, the King of heaven
It is the earth itself that has sheltered You

You, the only true Creator of all things.
But what is His true name?
Who are you? You on whom glory rests

Christ, the Messiah, the perfect Lamb is born
Son of God, living Word, I AM
The name above all names: Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, thank you so much for coming to earth to save us. Thank you for leaving your heavenly glory to reveal your light to us. Holy Spirit, enlighten the eyes of my heart and reveal to me the splendor of the nativity. I love you Jesus. Amen.
