And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

What a powerful and beautiful promise given in the very last verse of the first Gospel! Jesus was about to ascend to heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father. And as a good God, He knew that His ascension would be difficult for the disciples. For all the years they were together, they saw the greatest miracles but they also went through the darkest time not only in their lives but in history. Forty days before this Jesus had been crucified, and darkness had invaded the planet earth. The greatest news is that God released the Power of the Holy Spirit to bring Jesus back to life. And now, after a few days with his disciples giving them His last instructions and mainly the greatest commission, He released some of the most comforting words before leaving. I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS.
He didn’t say I will be with you, He says I AM with you. It’s not a future promise, it’s present tense. And he added the word ALWAYS. Always means in Greek, Hebrew, French, German, English … ALWAYS, but also EVERYWHERE.
My friend, you may be going through loss and feeling alone. You may have the impression that God is far away. In the midst of grief or of experiencing one storm after another you may think nobody really cares about you. Maybe you don’t really feel God’s presence. I have good news, everything that Jesus promised, He always fulfilled. The devil is the deceiver and the liar. But Jesus is the Truth and He will never forsake you. Maybe you feel very well, maybe you are full of joy and success and that’s fine. But the Truth is: JESUS IS ALWAYS WITH YOU and He will never forsake you.
You can put your trust in HIM and in this promise. You can find the greatest HOPE ever as He is always with you, even until the end of the age. He is with you at work and at home. He is with you in the bad and good seasons. He is with you in the morning and during the night. And as He is always with you, you can always be reassured for the present time and for the future. HE IS ALWAYS WITH YOU until the end of the age, meaning everywhere and forever.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You so much for Your promise. I decide today not to go forward by my feelings or by what I can see with my natural eyes. But I believe in Your word and I express my gratitude for Your omnipresence with all my heart. Jesus, I love You and I always love Your PRESENCE with me.
