Even the night shall be light about me;
Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

We cannot see God, but he can see us. The psalmist did not desire to run away from the Lord. Whither can we go? In the most distant places of the world, in heaven, or in hell, we cannot go out of His reach. No veil can hide us from God, not even the thickest darkness. No disguise can save any person or action from being seen in the true light by him. Secret haunts of sin are as open before God as the most open villainies.
On the other hand, as a believer we cannot be removed from the supporting, comforting presence of Our Almighty Friend when we are surround by darkness. His hand will guide us, and His strength will support us. We could ask the darkness to hide us and the light around us to become night but even in darkness, we cannot hide from HIM.
For Our God, night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same for Him according to his written word. The Good News is that even the Night shall be Light about us! The translation of the word Light is coming from the Hebrew word h0216. אוֹר ’ôr meaning illumination, luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.), bright, clear, day, light, morning, sun.
No outward circumstances can separate us from Our Lord as HE is the light. While in the path of duty, we may be happy in any situation, by the exercise of faith, hope, and prayer. Even the night, the darkness shall be LIGHT about me /us !
Prayer: Dear precious God, for you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same for you according to your word. So today, I’m not afraid of the night or the darkness as you’ve promised me the LIGHT about me. Thanks precious papa God for watching over me as the best Dad, letting your light shine even when it’s a dark season from a human point of view. But in you and with you the darkness shall be Light about me.
