FREEDOM

And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

Romans 8:2

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Behind sin, there is a spiritual law that brings a spiral of destruction in our lives, ending in death. But the good news is, all of us can live a life of freedom by renouncing our sin, giving our life to Jesus and putting our faith in Him. Belonging to Jesus means we have a wonderful promise of FREEDOM. The same Spirit that was upon and in Jesus will arise in our lives to destroy the power of sin.

It is the Holy Spirit who is called in this verse “the Spirit of life,” as He opens up a fountain of spiritual life in our souls as believers. Just as He is called ¨the Spirit of truth, “guiding us into all truth” (John 16:13), and “the Spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord” (Isa 11:2), He is the One who infuses us with these things. The Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is bringing new principles of action.

This Spirit of Christ has opened up within us the law of our new being. This law sets us free, as soon as it takes possession of our inner man, from the law of sin and death—that is, from the enslaving power of that corrupt principle which carries death in its bosom. The strong man armed is overpowered by the one “stronger than he”. The weaker principle is dethroned and expelled by the more powerful. The principle of spiritual life prevails against and brings into captivity the principle of spiritual death. That is our triumph over sin, this inward corruption, through the power of Christ’s Spirit in us which sets us free from all condemnation.

My friends, give all the place to this wonderful Holy Spirit who has and is the power to give us true freedom. Freedom from sin, and the power to resist temptations in order to live a victorious life.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I belong to you as I gave my life to you. I want to fully receive this Spirit of life. Holy Spirit, come into my life. As I welcome you, I allow you to destroy all the power of sin in my life. I want to be holy, living fully for God with a pure heart. And through the power of the Holy Spirit, I can resist temptations and have victory over every sin that tries to enslave me. I love freedom and with You, Spirit of the Living God, I can be totally free.
