Faith is to be fully convinced

Romans 4:21
“He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”

I have good news for you. No matter who you are or what you are going through right now, you can change your life. If you are living in glorious victory, you can move on to even greater glory. If you live in defeat, you can turn it around and turn it into success. You don’t have to live in lack. You don’t have to live in mediocrity. You don’t have to live in sickness. In Jesus Christ, you can change your condition!

How do you make these changes? By extraordinary means and a true gift from God called “faith”. Honestly, mostly all of us have failed partially or totally sometimes in our faith in certain areas of our lives. But just because “it didn’t work out” this time doesn’t mean that faith isn’t effective. Real, biblical faith is the most powerful force you will ever apply to your circumstances. If you want to change the quality of your life you need to have to learn some things about it.

One of the best ways to learn about faith is to study the life of Abraham. With the exception of the Lord Jesus Christ, no person in the Bible lived more fully by faith than Abraham. Abraham was a man who was fully convinced that the promises of God were true. Paul says so in Romans 4:18-22. Speaking of Abraham, he writes:  “He who against all hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of a multitude of nations, according to that which was said, ‘So shall your seed be. And being not weak in faith, he did not consider that his own body was dead, when he was about a hundred years old, nor that Sarah’s womb was dead: He did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, and fully persuaded that what he had promised, he could also fulfill. And therefore, it was imputed to him for righteousness.”

Whether you like it or not, if you want to take advantage of God’s promises in this life, you’ll need to receive them like Abraham did, by becoming “fully convinced.” Partial conviction is not enough. Nor is almost full conviction enough. God’s wonderful promises will be yours when, and only when, like Abraham, you are fully convinced.

Let’s take the example of healing. Are you so convinced that God’s promises are true about health and healing that if your doctor told you about a cancer in your body, it would not shake you? Are you fully confident that God would meet all your needs, even when your company downsizes? Would you greet the news that the economy is entering another great depression with peace or panic?

Being honest, it is obvious that most Christians, including myself, are not always fully convinced of God’s promises. Even though we believe His Word and His Promises, there is always a part of us that wants to rebel and bring shadow to our complete persuasion. This is why we have so many so-called “faith failures”. True faith never fails! But often people get into trouble by trying to act when they are only partially convinced.

How do we know if we are fully convinced? The answer can be found in the life of Abraham. Verse 20 of the passage of the Scripture we just read says that Abraham “did not waver from the promise of God.” In some versions, the word “stagger” is translated as “waver”. Abraham did not waver before the promise of God.

When you face a negative situation in your work, family life or finances, do not deny the circumstances but like Abraham, focus on the reality of God’s promises. Whatever the circumstances, there is nothing impossible for God. When human reason says there’s no way things will work out for you, faith keeps hoping.

Prayer: Thank you God, that you want to change my life from bad or even good to better. You call me to walk from Glory to Glory and I want to embrace your promises. Holy Spirit, come upon me and help me to have a faith like Abraham to be fully convinced of your Word and Promises.

Quote: Real, biblical faith when you are fully convinced is the most powerful force you will ever apply to your circumstances.
