“The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” Psalms 23.1

Since my early age, I was always impressed and inspired by the flocks of sheep and their shepherded. As I’m living in Switzerland, the big flocks were passing time to time during the winter season through the regions stopping in our neighborhood. It was so beautiful and peaceful, seeing these sheep grazing the grass with no anxiety or worry for their food and future. They were just following the shepherded who was leading the flock through the seasons and watching over them being sure they would have all they needed.

Under a metaphor explaining the scenes of a pastoral life, with which David was familiar, he describes God’s providential care in providing refreshment, food, guidance, protection, and abundance, and so affording grounds of confidence in His perpetual favor. The relation with Jesus and to His people is often represented by the figure of a shepherd “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me John 10:14”

“The Lord is my shepherd.” By these words, you can express every day your satisfaction in the care of the great Pastor of the universe, the Redeemer and Preserver of your life. With confidence and joy you can say that you have the safest and greatest shepherd, and that shepherd is God in who you trust. As a sheep being gentle and harmless, feeding in verdant pastures, under the care of a skillful, watchful and tender shepherd you don’t have to fear any lack. As a believer, by faith you can taste the goodness of God in all your enjoyments you can know that God will provide all that you need. God is a good God and He promises that you won´t miss any good thing: “Fear the LORD, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing. Psalms 34:9-10”

Prayer : THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I won’t miss anything. He is my good God and I trust Him knowing that he will guide me to the green pastures. He will provide for all that I need as He is God the provider. As I follow Him and Fear His name, I will have all what I need for my whole life. Thank you Jesus for being my Shepherd and taking care of me in every detail.
