The Lord our Provider

Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the LORD will provide”).
Still today, people use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.

Genesis 22:14

It was not God’s intention that Isaac should be sacrificed. Nobler blood than that of animals was to be shed for sin in due time, even the blood of the only begotten Son of God. But, at that time, under no circumstances would God have accepted human sacrifices. Another sacrifice was provided: the promised Messiah, the blessed Seed. Christ was sacrificed in our place, as the ram was sacrificed instead of Isaac, and His death was our discharge. And notice that the temple, the place of sacrifice, was later on built on the same mount, Moriah. Calvary, where Christ was crucified, was nearby.

A new name was given to that place for the encouragement of all believers, to cheerfully trust in God and to obey Him until the end of time. Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord will provide. Probably alluding to what Abraham had said, that God would provide a lamb for Himself. The Lord will always have His eye upon His people, in their straits and distresses, so that He might give them help in due season.

My friends, one of our Lord God’s names is Jehovah Jireh – our Provider. We don’t have to beg him for anything. If you ask Him for anything by faith, you will receive it as He promised in His word. So let’s just believe in our God the Provider for all our needs to be met according to His richness. Let’s expect His abundant love to flow towards us, and let us put our hope and trust in His name, the Lord our provider.

Prayer: Lord God, I believe in You and I believe in Your name. You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord God my provider. I’m not an orphan, you are my Father God who provides for all my needs. Help me, therefore, not to have a beggar’s mentality but just to believe in You and in Your Name, expecting Your supernatural provision.

Quote: As we are not orphans but children of our Father God the Almighty, we only need to believe in Him and in His name called Jehovah Jireh – God the Provider for all our needs.
