Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Hebrews 13:8
This scripture is so powerful showing us that Jesus Christ is truly the rock in whom we can put our whole faith and trust as he has never changed and will never change.
Notice, it’s written “Jesus Christ”, the full name being given, to mark with affectionate solemnity both His person and His office. Jesus the Messiah and Christ the Anointed one will never change. He is at once “the Author and the Finisher of our faith” (Heb 12:2) and remains still the same Jesus Christ today, ready to help us also, if we walk by “faith” in Him.
Compare “this same Jesus,” Ac 1:11. He who yesterday (proverbial for the past time) suffered and died, is today in glory (Re 1:18). “As night comes between yesterday and today, and yet night itself is swallowed up by yesterday and today, so the “suffering” did not so interrupt the glory of Jesus Christ which was of yesterday, and that which is today, as not to continue to be the same.
This world is changing and you are, maybe passing through a shaking season. Maybe you’ve lost your job or are fighting with sickness or facing any kind of challenges. I have a Good News for you: Jesus is still the deliverer and He is still the provider and the Healer. He will never forsake you as you put your faith in his beautiful name: Jesus-Christ.
He is the same yesterday, before He came into the world, and today, in heaven. Yesterday in the time of our predecessors, and today in our age. So, Jesus Christ as God but also as a person, as the word of God is the same, not variable: this verse thus forms the transition between Heb 13:7 and Heb 13:9. He is always “the same” (Heb 1:12). The same in the Old and in the New Testament.
Today, you can love Him and build your present and future life even your eternal life with the only One who will never change. He is the most secure person in whom we can trust, without restrictions give Him every part of our life to become the only God.
Prayer: Jesus Christ I believe in you and put my whole trust and hope in you. I want to be wise and to build my life only upon you as you are this unshakable solid rock. Thanks for being the same yesterday, today and forever.
