A God Worth Trusting In

Exodus 14:31

“When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that the LORD had unleashed against the Egyptians, they were filled with awe before him. They put their faith in the LORD and in his servant Moses.”

The Israelites had now completed their three days’ journey, and at Etham the decisive step would have to be taken, whether they would celebrate their intended feast and return, or march onwards by the head of the Red Sea into the desert, with a view to a final departure. They were already on the borders of the desert, and a short march would have placed them beyond the reach of pursuit, as the chariots of Egypt could have made little progress over dry and yielding sand.

But at Etham, instead of pursuing their journey eastwards with the sea on their right, they were suddenly commanded to diverge to the south, keeping the gulf on their left; a route which not only kept them lingering on the confines of Egypt, but in adopting it, they actually turned their backs on the land of which they had set out to obtain the possession. A movement so unexpected, and of which the ultimate design was carefully concealed, could not but excite the astonishment of all, even of Moses himself, although, out of his faith in the wisdom and power of his heavenly Guide, he obeyed. The purpose was to entice Pharaoh to pursue them, in order that the moral effect, which the judgments on Egypt had produced in releasing God’s people from bondage, might be still further extended over the nations by the awful events that happened at the Red Sea.

God showed His almighty power by opening a passage through the waters. God can bring His people through the greatest difficulties and force a way where He does not find it. It was an instance of His wonderful favor to the people of Israel. They went through the sea, they walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea. This was done to encourage God’s people in all ages to trust Him in the greatest straits.

As you have faced human impossibilities and challenges, have you put God in a little box? Do you believe you can ever accomplish your dreams, find a great job, have children or ever get out of debt, or ever be healthy again? If not, it’s because you’re only focused on the natural, which is human. But God is a supernatural God and He has created us spiritual as well to connect with and experience His power on this earth. The Bible says that when we believe, all things are possible. Our first steps are to quit trying to figure everything out. There may not be a way in the natural and that’s many times the case when you trust God. The good news is that God can do what men can’t.

When the children of Israel left Egypt, there were two millions of them. Pharaoh changed his mind and came chasing after them. They came to a dead end at the Red Sea. It looked like it was over for the Israelites. They couldn’t see a way out, but God did. God simply parted the Red Sea. They went through on dry ground.

I encourage you, in every season as in every area of your life, to put your trust in God only. Just because you can’t see a way for something to be accomplished doesn’t mean God doesn’t have a way. God never gives a vision without making provision. You can experience the truth of His faithfulness in your life each day. And never forget, God will always make a way where there seems to be no way (Isaiah 43.19).

Prayer : God, I don’t see how that can happen in my situation. But I know You are the almighty God with awesome power. I have faith in You, and I believe that You have a way for my life. I know You wouldn’t have led me this way if You didn’t already have a plan. This is the reason I fully put my trust and hope in You alone.
